Evaluation of the motor activity of older school-age children by the MABC-2 test battery at a selected elementary school
ŽÁNOVÁ, Marie
The aim of this graduation thesis is to find out the level of fine and gross motoric skills amongst children of older school age in a selected elementary school. The theoretical part of the thesis was based on the literature review. In June 2021 we tested 10 girls ages 11-12 years. The level of their motor skills was measured by a standardized Movement Assessment Battery for Children - Second Edition, which includes 8 motor tests suitable for both genders. The testing was completed in the gym of Pohůrecká primary school in České Budějovice after informed consent of children's legal representative. A survey was carried out to characterize the sample. Based on the experiment, it was found that the best results were obtained in the aiming & catching (62,1th percentile). The next one was the balance task (41,7 percentiles) fallowed by the manual dextery (40,2 percentile). One girl was diagnosed with the 3rd band motor skills and ske got the receommendition for a specialist. The overall level of gross motor skills of tested children is slighty above average.

Subsequently, to verify whether the intervention program had an effect on the motor difficulties of the children. Method: The research was designed as a prospective intervention study where there were two combined orientations ofeducational research: quantative and qualitative. To solve the problem a research design was used, called Crossover Design (Wilmore et al., 2008, Thomas et al., 2005), which was conceived as an experiment with an intervention re-education program aimed at improving the motor difficulties of children. The quantative part of the research was focused on the assessment of motor skills and to detect motor problems in children of primary school age. MABC-2 (Henderson et al., 2007) battery of motor tests were used for this purpose. The qualitative part of the...
Evaluation of the motor activity of younger school-age children by the MABC-2 test battery at a selected elementary school
ČELIKOVSKÝ, Jakub
The aim of this graduation thesis is to find out the level of fine and gross motoric skills amongst children of younger school age in a selected elementary school. In total, we tested 44 children (21 boys and 23 girls) from the 1st to 4th grade from the age of 7 to 10 in January 2018. The level of their motoric skills was measured by a standardized Movement Assessment Battery for Children Second Edition, which includes 8 motor tests suitable for both genders. We compared boys and girls with each other in components and test tasks. The total test results have shown that 100% of children have no motor problems (1st range). In spite of that, there were individuals who fell into the 2nd range (risk of motor problems) in components of manual skills, aiming & catching or 3rd band (major motor problems). Research has convinced us that the fine and gross motor skills of most tested children are at a very good standard.
